What’s the sales pitch at the end of this β€œworkshop?”

I know it's unusual, but this really is a WORKSHOP, not a webinar.

No sales pitch anywhere in the entire presentation. But if you had fun and want to continue getting support with your ethical marketing efforts, you can join our free community of ethical business owners.

Is this workshop truly β€œlive” or is it pre-recorded and pretending to be live?

Fair question! So many bad actors have ruined the online marketing space for ethical businesses, so I don't blame you for being wary!

This workshop was 100% live and now the replay is available for those who didn't know about it in time to join us live.

If, by some chance, the recording fails, we'll host the workshop again and try to record it again.

But so far it's been reliable!

What tech do I need to attend this workshop?

The workshop will take place on Butter which is a lot like Zoom (but better.)

You don’t need to download anything, you just click a link to enter the β€œroom.”

Using your camera and microphone will be optional. If you’re the type of person who struggles to give camera/mic access when using a new tool (or just doesn’t like being on camera), it won’t prevent you from participating.

You can raise your hand, ask questions in the chat, and/or give us hearts if you’re having fun.

If you want to show up on camera and ask questions via your microphone, that’s welcome too!

Is this workshop accessible?

We do try to make it as accessible as possible and we want feedback about where we need to improve.

The meeting software (Butter) has closed captioning, but (like most CC) it isn't great. And the person speaking won't always be on screen for lip reading.

A transcription is included with the replay (and it IS very accurate) so that might be better for some people.

As for listening, I try to describe things pretty thoroughly (including where buttons are located and what they're called.) If you need to move through each step more slowly because you're juggling screen readers and such, then the replay might be more useful.

And for different learning styles, this workshop will be very hands-on, follow along as we do these steps together. We'll try to go slowly enough that everyone has time to implement and see the results before moving on but also move fast enough to keep it engaging and fun.

You'll have access to the replay and transcript afterwards to go over anything you missed or rewatch any part you want to do again.

If, at any time during the workshop or afterwards, you have questions about something that isn't clear (from the audio, visual, or teaching style of the workshop), please send us an email and we'll do what we can to clear it up.

Do I need a Bluesky account to participate?

Yep! The goal of this workshop is to get you actually using your Bluesky account right away and seeing likes, comments, and posts on it before the end of the hour.

Do I need Pinksky or Skylight Social apps to participate?

Nope! You don't need anything other than a Bluesky account.

But if you have them, feel free to bring 'em because we're going to show you how they work together with Bluesky to make your marketing easier/better.

And if you only have a Bluesky account, you can just watch as I navigate the other apps on screen so you don't have to.

Do I need access to any other tools to participate?

Nope! Just your Bluesky account and the link to Butter that we'll send you.

During the workshop, I’ll show you how to recognize traffic from Bluesky in your stats, but you can look at your own later.

I'll also show you how to verify your Bluesky account (it's free and DIY!) but you can also do that later if it interests you. (We may end up running out of time for this part anyway, so I might include it as an optional tutorial afterwards.)
