ETHICAL ALTERNATIVES

It IS possible to run an ethical business on ethical platforms & tools without losing sales, traffic, and leads.

It's just reeeeeeally hard to make the switch by yourself and then stick with it long enough to see results.

That's why we have a community of ethical business owners helping each other boost reach, engagement, and sales until you're able to safely replace your current systems.

Each quarter (or so), we'll focus on a different format and grow together in that area, cohort style.

Current and future themes: replacing your Meta results with equal or bigger ROI on Bluesky, using Flipboard to reach best-fit buyers, SEO for changemakers (when your topic isn't search-friendly), and more!

ETHICAL ENGAGEMENT

Right now the focus is Bluesky, a social media platform owned by a B-Corp (a company dedicated to the benefitting people & the planet over profits).

Fern has been using it successfully for a few months now and we've completely replaced the traffic and sales we used to get from all of Meta's apps combined.

By joining the Grassroots community, you are agreeing to engage with other members' posts on Bluesky in return for ethical & authentic likes, shares, and comments on your posts.

If you don't already have a Bluesky account, we'll help you create one! (Mastodon is also welcome instead of Bluesky and we'll add other ethical options as they become available.)

This is the only requirement of joining ~ spending a minimum of 15 mins/week engaging with members' posts on Bluesky or Mastodon.

Everything else is optional!

OPPORTUNITIES TO STAND OUT

Twice monthly, we'll host a #FernTalk chat on Bluesky where you can show off your expertise and build name recognition among best-fit buyers, podcast hosts, and other ethical business owners.

It's like a monthly networking event on social media, but in public, so it builds your credibility, brand awareness, and social SEO.

All you have to do is show up on Bluesky and post your thoughts on that week's topic with the chat's hashtag so everyone can see your answers.

We'll share the topics in advance inside the community so you can prepare.

This is a brand new program in the seed stages. As such, it's smaller now but growing.

By applying to join, you are agreeing to spend a minimum of 15 minutes per week participating in the current activity. At this time, that means spending time ethically engaging with other members' posts in return for the same.

Our blog is cleaner than 90% of web pages tested by Website Carbon Calculator. It emits the amount of carbon that ONE tree absorbs in a year at only 0.1g of CO2 per visit and is running on sustainable energy.

We plant 🌲 5 trees 🌲 every time someone buys anything from us and donate 5% of all revenue to environmental and social justice causes.

We believe every human being should feel safe to express their identity however they choose. We support women, BIPOC, LGTBQIA2s+, and others.

We use our influence, impact, and income to raise awareness and support equity including donating 5% of all revenue to environmental and social justice causes.
